The Management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) is issued a disclaimer to insinuations on some websites that it was billing students Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) to partake in its online lectures.

This is supposedly in continuation of the 2019/2020 academic session that had been halted for ten months due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The university had earlier announced that it would be resuming classes online from 25th January.

The latest statement on Saturday clarified that claims that students would pay the aforementioned sum was unfounded.

Read the statement below.

The Management of the University of Lagos wishes to inform all students, parents, and the general public, that a notice on the internet purporting that returning students of the University of Lagos is to pay a sum of ₦50,000 for online lectures and examinations, is FALSE and should be disregarded.

All students are to commence online lectures on Monday, January 25, 2021 at absolutely NO COST.

In the future, it is advised that our esteemed stakeholders and interested individuals kindly check the official University of Lagos website (www.unilag.edu.ng) and official social media platforms for verified information about the University.
