New date fixed for NECO, NABTEB exams

The Nigerian government has scheduled dates for examinations coordinated by the National Examination Council (NECO) and the National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB).

Also announced was the examination conducted by the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS).

It said that the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) by NECO for SS3 students will commence on 5th October and end on 18th November, 2020.

The government added that NABTEB examinations for technical colleges students will start on 21st September and end by 15th October, 2020.

NBAIS examination will commence on Wednesday, 23rd September and end by 17th October, 2020.

Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, announced the dates at the end of a two-day meeting with Chief Executives of examination bodies in the country.

In a statement on Wednesday by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education (FMoE), Ben Goong, the ministry disclosed that the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Unity Colleges will hold on 17th October, 2020.

The ministry also said the Basic Education Certificate Examinations, (BECE) for JSS 3 pupils also conducted by NECO, will start on 24th August and end on 7th September, 2020.

The statement added that registration for the NECO SSCE, which is ongoing, will end on 10th September, 2020 with no option of extension.

Earlier in the week, the Nigerian government also announced that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) would start from 17th August while candidates were to resume for revision classes on 4th August.

In this line, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has appropriately rescheduled some papers written by minority candidates within the first two weeks of August.
