New Benue SUBEB secretary assumes office

Following a major shakeup at the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr Andrew Amee, has assumed office as the Board Secretary.

Amee took over from Mr Benjamin Ikwe, who was appointed Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Basic Education.

The new board secretary who sued for cooperation from staff members emphasized that he would run his office strictly according to civil service rules.

He noted that Basic Education remained a critical foundation needed to ensure sustainable development in the education sector.

“If we don’t get it right, we will have problems in our development endeavours,” he added.

He expressed deep appreciation to Governor Samuel Ortom for finding him worthy of the appointment and promised to do his best in repositioning the Board.

Earlier, Mr Ikwe thanked management and staff of SUBEB for all the support and cooperation accorded him during his short stay at the Board and urged them to extend same to the new Board Secretary.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Basic Education, Dr. Sarwuan Tarnongo, who witnessed the handing over process on behalf of the Commissioner for Education congratulated Amee on his appointment and wished him well as he helps in the ongoing repositioning of the Board.

Also, Director, Administration and Supply, Mr. Terna Ayu, on behalf of management and staff thanked the outgoing Secretary for his contribution to the development of Basic Education in the State and assured the new Board Secretary of their full support with a view to taking the Board to greater heights.

In a related development, the newly posted Directors of Academic Services, Mrs Regina Nyitar, Social Mobilisation, Mr Emmanuel Eje, Planning, Research and Statistics Mrs Joy Adole and Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr Adams Msugh, also assumed duties as directed by the governor.
