List of polytechnics in Nigeria

We present you the full list of polytechnics in Nigeria. Polytechnics are a major part of Nigeria’s tertiary education level as stated in the National Policy on Education in terms of technology and technical education.

They offer multiple academic programmes in two tiers – the National Diploma (ND) and the Higher National Diploma (HND).

Because of their specialised nature, the policy mandates each polytechnic to ensure that not less than 70% of its admission is to technology based courses.

Aside polytechnics, we have other specialised institutions called monotechnics that offer similar tiers of programmes but are often limited to one field of study. Monotechnics may be focused on any of agriculture, water resources, information technology, health sciences or any other field they deem fit.

All programmes of study in monotechnics and polytechnics are subject to the approval of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). It is therefore important that candidates scrutinise this list to ensure that they are only applying to a school recognised by law.
