The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released a list of items banned from examination halls in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This means that the listed items are not allowed into the exam hall for 2018 UTME.

Candidates found with the banned items risk penalties which may ultimately lead to cancellation of their results.

While the Mock UTME coming up on 1st April, 2019 is not compulsory for all, the banned items are not be found on candidates writing it.

The ban also extends to main exam which comes up from 11th April, 2019.

Regarding medicated eye glasses (for candidates that have sight issues), the examination officials will have to scrutinise it and where convinced that such an item may compromise the sanctity of the examination, the examination official would have to confiscate it.

This means that if you are a candidate that has eye issues and need to wear your glasses for the exam, make sure the glasses are medicated. Otherwise, you won’t be allowed to wear it into the hall.

JAMB staff not exempted

Not even JAMB members of staff are exempted in this. Any staff found to be in possession of such items listed above will be guilty of examination sabotage and necessary disciplinary action will be taken against against such staff.

All candidates that will be participating in both the mock UTME and the main exam which comes up from 11th to 19th April, 2019 are therefore advised not to go to the exam hall with any of the banned items above.

We wish you all the best in the forthcoming exams!
