The management of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) has proscribed the activities of the university’s Students’ Union Government (SUG) on Friday, 8th March, 2019.

In a statement signed by the Registrar of the LAUTECH, Kayode Ogunleye, the management disclosed that the proscription was due to unsettled differences within the SUG over the various support of its organs for candidates contesting in the gubernatorial election in Oyo State.

EduCeleb.com gathered that the executive arm of the LAUTECH had openly declared support for the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Seyi Makinde, while the legislature is backing the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adebayo Adelabu.

The SUG executive team was said to have hosted Mr Makinde on the LAUTECH campus during his political campaign to Ogbomoso on Wednesday.

The LAUTECH community has been enmeshed in various crises that had led to the closure of the school for several months over the past eight years. An analyst believes that it may influence the outcome of the Saturday elections.

Dr Ogunleye, in the statement made available to EduCeleb.com described the situation as “unpalatable” and “ugly”.
