LASU VC inaugurates Health Care Management System committee

The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Olanrewaju Fagbohun has inaugurated a Committee to look into the Health Care Management System of the university.

The Committee is to be chaired by Professor Olumiyuwa Odusanya of the Department of Community Health and Primary Health Care.

Members are Dr Wusu Onipede of the
Department of Sociology, Dr Bidemi Bilikis Idowu of the Department of Physical and Health Education, and Dr. (Mrs.) A. B. Ofi from the Department of Nursing.

Others are the Deputy Bursar, Mr Olabisi Ibrahim Yusuf, the Chief Executive Officer, Internal Audit, Mr Adegboyega Rafiu Hassan, and the Chief Personal Secretary in the Faculty of Education, Mrs Olasumbo Oladunni Adeyanju.

An Executive Officer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Mr Aina Olufemi Ajose, and the Secretary
Senior Assistant Registrar, with the LASU External System (LASUES), Mrs. Akuwa Semande Akran-Olaleye are also members of the committee.

Professor Fagbohun said that the newly constituted committee was expected to critically review the operations of the University’s Health Centre with a view to identifying challenges, weaknesses and make recommendations for improved service delivery.

It will also audit the drugs management process of the Health Centre as it affects procurement, dispensary, replenishment, wastage and make recommendations for an effective and efficient drug management processes.

The committee was to also make recommendations on how to synergize the activities of the “Keep Fit Programme” of the Sports Centre with the Primary Health Care delivery of the University Health Centre.

Recommendations were also expected of the committee regarding issues that may be incidental to the aforementioned, which are capable of improving on the health of the generality of members of the University Community, while also coming up with modalities to effectively sensitize the University Community on available Health Care Services and the importance of accessing it.

This committee has a four week deadline to submit its report to the Vice Chancellor at the end of this exercise.
