LASU sets team to develop tech innovation hub

The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has appointed a team comprising of staff and students to develop the LASU Technology Innovation Hub.

LASU Vice Chancellor, Professor ‘Lanre Fagbohun gave the team the mandate to “build a Community of IT talented students.”

Acting Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr Olufemi Obayori was appointed as the Convener of the hub.

Other members of the team are Dr Abayomi Yussuf, Dr Toyin Enikuomehin, Dr Philomena Ojomo, and Dr Bola Oyefolu.

Yussuf teaches in the Electronic & Computer Engineering department while Enikuomehin is of the Department of Computer Science.

Whereas Ojomo, the only female on the team teaches in the Department of Philosophy at LASU.

Oyefolu is the Coordinator of the university’s ICT Centre.

Among students part of the team constituted by the VC are
Babatunde Samson and Oluwatobi Arowesan, both of the Intelligentsia Orbs.

Others are Nathaniel Ugochukwu of Philosophy department, Isaq Balogun, the incoming Students’ Union General Secretary.

His predecessor and incumbent General Secretary, Akinwale Akinwande and the current Speaker of the Students’ Union legislature, Mutiu Kuku also made the list.

EduCeleb.com gathered that the team was being charged with attracting investment in the hub, which would be funded by Access Bank.

Among other roles the Technology Innovation Hub Team would be playing include,
discovering and assembling a team of students who are Information Technology savvy for innovation hub.

They would also serve as the core Technology Innovation Hub for the University towards attracting and winning the sponsorship of such innovations, offer guidance to the assembled team and open up opportunities for students with Information Technology skills ambition and entrepreneurial drive innovation hubs.

Another role is the aggregation of students of the University that interact and collaborate to market new ideas that can solve social challenges.

The team was to also come up with competitive innovations that are Information Technology driven, identify and display acceptable Technology Innovations and facilitate competitions for selection of the best innovations by Access Bank Nigeria Plc while also developing a detailed implementation plan for the attainment of the set objective.
