The Lagos State government has reacted to the story published by EduCeleb.com about an uncompleted school building where students were learning.

Aguda Community Senior Secondary School located in the Aguda area of Surulere Local Government Area was the subject of the report.

This medium had reported that teaching takes place there in a practically unconducive learning environment due to the abandonment of the school building project.

When EduCeleb.com visited the school recently, no real demarcation separated the five classrooms on site that are said to easily get flooded in times of rainfall.

There was a past case of a student falling off the first floor of the two storey building.

Following our report, the Tutor General and Permanent Secretary of Education District IV, Mrs Anike Adekanye ordered the relocation of classroom furniture from the said building.

The school complex is shared by three other schools named Aguda Junior Grammar School, Aguda Senior Grammar School and Aguda Community Junior Grammar School.

The furniture were reportedly moved to the community junior school since Monday.

EduCeleb.com had earlier sought comments from the Commissioner for Education in the state, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo over the irregular development at the school.

In eventual her response to our enquiry on Friday, Adefisayo promised that the building would be refurbished as part of the 2021 projects.

In her words, “Thanks for getting in touch. We are repairing in phases and Aguda has been slated in the 2021 plan.”
