Kwara poly student killed in alleged rival cult clash

One student of Kwara State Polytechnic has been killed in alleged rival cult clash in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

During the street brawl, two persons were said to have sustained several degrees of injuries.

The rival cult members clash between Eiye and Aiyee cult members, it was gathered happened at the Institute of Technology (IOT) campus in Ilorin.

Three Aiye cult members were reportedly attacked while inside a car at the mini campus by rival cult members.

During the fracas, dangerous weapons such as axes and cutlasses were freely used.

The two students, who sustained severe injuries were rushed to a nearby private hospital in Adewole are while the remains of the deceased were taken to the mortuary.

“One of the Eiye group died on the spot while the other two have been rushed to the nearest hospital,” a source said.

Residents of the area and environs scampered for safety as the fracas spilled over to Surulere area of the metropolis.

Spokesman of the state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident.

He said, “Police have been deployed to the affected areas to maintain peace and security. They are still there as I speak. I will give details about the arrest and other related issues later.”
