Kebbi State Government has dismissed an examination officer and suspended two other secondary school teachers in Birnin Kebbi over sexual affairs with female students.

The state Commissioner for Education, Mohammadu Aleiro, revealed this in a chat with journalists at the state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.

He said the state government took the steps following a report submitted by a committee set up by the ministry of education over the cases.

He warned that any teacher in any public or private school caught having an illicit affair with a female student would be dismissed and prosecuted.

Aleiro also warned female students against unholy romance with teachers, adding that they are in school only to learn.

Aleiro also disclosed that about 398,000 children of school age are out of school in the state, adding that the state was working round the clock to meet the Dakar Declaration on the number of out-of-school children in the state.

He noted that the state government, within one and half years, had spent over N1.6 billion to renovate and build more classrooms to accommodate more children in primary and junior schools.
