Kano secures land to build WAEC CBT centre

The Kano State government has revealed that preparation had reached an advance stage in securing land for the construction of a Computer Based Test (CBT) centre for the West African Examination Council (WAEC), Kano Branch.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Education in the state, Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id Kiru during the 68th Council’s Day celebration 2020.

He said that the land allocation for the construction of the CBT center is part of the government’s support to the council in appreciation of its contributions to the development of education in the state and the country in general.

The commissioner who was represented by the Director, Kano Educational Research and Development (KERD), Nura Sani Yakasai congratulated the Council for celebrating it 68th years of existance.

He commended WAEC for the introduction of innovations for improving the standard of the Examination and checkmating Malpractices.

While thanking the council for the timely release of the 2019 candidates results, he promised that the ministry will continue to partner with the Council’s activities.

In his address, the Registrar of WAEC, Mr. Pateh Bah said that 16th March each year has been set aside to celebrate WAEC Day in Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone with a view to bringing its staff and stakeholders to celebrate it’s successes and mend fences.

In his speech, the Branch Controller WAEC Kano, Mr. Ayobami Lateef Zubairu, while expressing appreciation for the cordial relationship existing between the council and the state government, commended the commissioner for his determination to see to the establishment of the CBT center among other things.

He disclosed that the council conducts various examinations at both national and international levels including aptitude tests for organisations at low cost.

During the celebration, a quiz competition was conducted and prizes were won.
