The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it has generated N5 billion from the conduct of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The information is contained in JAMB’s weekly bulletin published on Monday, 14th May.

The examination body remitted N5 billion also disclosed that the Federal Government gave back N2 billion out of the N5 billion to the board to enhance its operations.

This is lower than 2018 when the board made and remitted N7.8bn to the Federal Government.

EduCeleb.com recalls that the government reduced the registration fee charged by JAMB for its exams last November from N5000 to N3500. This and other factors may have accounted for the lower income generated in the 2019 UTME.

In another development, EduCeleb.com earlier reported of some discrepancies of figures in the results released by JAMB for the 2019 UTME.

The report showed that figures stated while the exam was held between 11th and 18th April were a bit different from those stated on Saturday, 11th May when JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede announced the release of the results.
