The recruitment exercise by the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for teachers into public primary schools in the state is ongoing despite the initial hicups in the process caused by COVID-19 Lockdown, and other immediate and remote factors affecting the well-being of the nation which disrupted the academic calendar and daily life for the greater part of 2020.

The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti SUBEB, Professor Femi Akinwumi made this known in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti.

He disclosed that the recruitment process has reached the final lap, which is verification of records of first batch of successful candidates who passed both the written examinations and interview stages as well as other documentation scheduled for Tuesday, 1st December, 2020.

“I wish to confirm that that we will begin the process of documentation for the first batch of successful candidates of recruitment exercise on Tuesday, December 1st 2020.

“The process for recruitment exercise was in top gear before the nation and virtually the entire globe went into complete lockdown in March as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“When the lockdown was eased, academic activities did not pick up until recently. Then came the endSARS protest which disrupted the school calander and brought a 24 hour curfew on most parts of the nation.

“2020 has been full of its ups and downs but. We are determined to complete the process,” Akinwumi said.

Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to the general well being of the people and absolute fairness in the recruitment exercise, Akinwumi urged people in the State to ignore the report of the online medium which he described as baseless.

He stressed that a good news report should be fair and balanced, adding that it is unfortunate that the author of the story did not bother to get the side of government.
