Private school owners have been urged to support the teachers under them as the COVID-19 lockdown leading to school closures persists.

This charge was given by an educationist, Dideolu Adekogbe recently on the EduCeleb Education Discourse.

According to her, how private school owners treat teachers at these difficult times could determine the survival of their schools in the post – COVID-19 era.

Already, many private schools have resorted to online teaching and learning as part of efforts to engage and retain students.

Mrs Adekogbe believes that showing emphathy and purposeful leadership would help school owners relate well with their teachers.

She also proposed efforts in terms of periodic training, salary payment, and effective communications with teachers on developments in the school.

The lead at Florish-Gate Consult also harped on collaborating with teachers in the utilisation of the e-learning platforms for commercial purposes.

Among guests present were the Registrar, Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Professor Olusegun Ajiboye, the President, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Abuja, Mrs Olusola Bankole; other private school owners and education stakeholders.
