A non-governmental organisation, CleanEdge, has commenced its waste management sensitisation campaign tagged “Save the Environment”, in Ibadan.

The pilot phase of the campaign was taken to Methodist Grammar School Bodija on Wednesday, 4th October, 2017.

It would be recalled that Cleanedge earlier called for volunteers  in an effort to sensitise secondary school students in Oyo State on how best they can manage their waste.

Members of the visiting team included the Campaign Manager, Tosin Gbadegesin , Campaign Coordinator, Temitope Ogunweide, Instructor, Toyib Aremu, and the Content Creator, Okunade Waliyah.

Why

“The reason for this visit is to have a firsthand knowledge of the challenges our volunteers will be facing when we send them out for the campaign,” according to the Okunade.

In his presentation, Toyib Aremu dwelt on waste management and the effect of waste on the environment. By the end of his speech, the students knew different ways to recycle their waste and a few ways to properly manage their waste. A question and answer session was entertained to improve on the students’ knowledge of the presentation.

Impact

CleanEdge hoped that when next students see bins, they would remember the Save the Environment campaign and strive to put what was taught to good use. Students were also encouraged to teach others what they had learnt.
