Buhari signs bill establishing two tertiary institutions

President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has signed bills establishing two tertiary institutions into law. He also signed another unrelated to education.

EduCeleb.com gathered that the three bills which were earlier passed by the National Assembly, had been signed on Tuesday, December but only became public knowledge a day after.

A statement released to newsmen by the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, on Wednesday, December 6 indicates this.

Adesina disclosed that the first bill was the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy (Establishment) Bill, 2017.

He stated: “The College to be sited in Enugu is to provide courses of instruction leading to the award of degrees, diplomas and certificates in dental technology, dental therapy and related courses.”

The second bill is the Air Force Institute of Technology of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill, 2017.

The presidential aide disclosed that the institute would provide technical training for personnel of the Nigerian Air Force and other branches of the Nigerian Armed Forces, and would be situated in Kaduna.

The third bill signed is the National Intelligence Agency Pensions (Establishment) Bill, 2017.

Adesina said it would administer the pensions scheme for personnel of the agency.
