Students of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) have successfully elected the next set of Students’ Union Government (SUG) executives in a rather peaceful atmosphere.

The new officials who won on Thursday, 17th May, 2018 would be at the helms of affairs of the Union for the 2017/2018 academic session.

As part of its motto of building a Twenty First Century University, the AAUA election process was conducted online, making it the third (3rd) consecutive year of staging an online platform for the AAUASU elections.

The election saw Eyinla Temitope (Bowbow), a final year student from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, emerge as President, breaking a jinx spanning over eight (8) years for the Faculty.

EduCeleb.com reports that it also witnessed a lot of last minutes dramas, making the final minutes of the process to be indeed breathtaking. Some candidates tipped to win eventually lost.

Ojo Esther Omobolanle (Homo.B), a student from the Faculty of Arts clinched the spot of the Vice-President in a keenly contested position, while Oyashina Oreoluwa Ibrahim (Orhe) was elected as the General Secretary of the Union.

Others are Oluewu Segun Daniel (Segun Daniels) as the Public Relations Officer, Otse Hassan (Classic) as the Welfare Director; Afolayan Ayobami Sunday (Afolas) as the Treasurer and Abodunrin Samuel Adebayo (Impact) as the Assistant General Secretary.

Ajao Deborah Olajumoke (Ola Embassy) is the new Financial Secretary while Ajayi Feranmi Deborah (Pherydee) is the Sports Director.

EduCeleb.com recalls that the outgoing Ijanusi Temitope (Optimum) led-administration was at logger heads with the Ondo State Government over the inhumane increase in the school fees of the institution earlier in the year, staging protests in major cities and towns across the nation, especially at the Ondo State Headquarters, Akure.

This move yielded reductions in the fees of the University, thereby paving way for the resumption into the new academic session.

It is left to be seen what path the incoming AAUASU administration will take, but all AAUAites are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping for the best.
