Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Enugu Zonal Office on Tuesday, 23rd July reportedly barred about 1,500 students of the Rochas Foundation School in Imo state from gaining access to the school.

The students, who are children of less privileged people in the society who are catered for academically and welfare-wise free of charge, were reportedly stopped from gaining entry to the facility.

Eyewitness accounts say the EFCC officials forcefully gained entry into the premises and molested those on ground in the facility.

“Several students sustained varied degrees of injuries and are now currently receiving treatment, with a female student on her monthly period reportedly kicked in the stomach,” one of the witnesses told journalists.

The Rochas Foundation since inception in 1998 has graduated about 3,000 students of the vulnerable in the society who have contributed immensely to the development of the country.

The anti-graft agency had confirmed the incident but denied harassing anyone in the process.

It also revealed the closure of some other schools traced to Okorocha’s daughter.

It said that its officials “traced and marked some property traced to ex-Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha as well as those of his family members and cronies.”

“It was the outcome of painstaking investigation, and as a result of the failure of those to whom they were traced to, to honour the EFCC’s invitation for interrogation.”

“Operatives neither “raided” nor “harassed” anyone in the course of the action.”

Among those invited that failed to honour EFCC invitation and their property include Dews of Hope Hospital traced to Dr. Paschal Obi, ex-Principal Secretary to Okorocha; Market Square Supermarket; All in One Shop, and premises belonging to Imo State Broadcasting Corporation now hosting Rochas Foundation College owned by Senator Okorocha.

Others are Royal Spring Palm Hotel and Apartment, a 16 block cum 96 flats and eight bungalow multi-million Naira estate traced to Okorocha’s wife.

Senator Rochas Okorocha who owns the school is yet to react to the matter at the time of filing this report.
